Compete
If you’re an eighth grader or high schooler, you’re eligible—period. We don’t want bureaucracy to be your barrier to education.
In our final contest of the season (May), high school graduates may compete in two-person teams alongside high schoolers or with other graduates. A different case will be released one hour before every round.

Our rules are largely derived from the rules of the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) and the MockOn Tournament of Champions. We encourage all contestants to apply for MockOn’s tournament in May; we formed this organization in partnership with them. We are not affiliated with AMTA.
We permit eighth graders to compete alongside high school students. The top eighth grade contestants will be recognized during the individual awards portions of our closing ceremonies.
We charge no entry fees for competitions. However, we require all contestants to 1) have at least four members on their rosters at the time of submission and 2) provide a judge for all four rounds of every competition they enter.
Participation is a privilege, not a right. IMT reserves the right to deny participation to any student at any time, pursuant to rules outlined on our Rules tab.

Students must submit entries no later than the Saturday before the contest.
Judges must be entered no later than the Monday before the contest.

In 2025-2026, rounds will be held as follows:
Round 1: 5pm pacific, 8pm eastern, 9am Beijing (Friday)
Round 2: 6am pacific, 9am eastern, 10pm Beijing (Saturday)
Round 3: 5pm pacific, 8pm eastern, 9am Beijing (Saturday)
Round 4: 6am pacific, 9am eastern, 10pm Beijing (Sunday)
Elimination rounds: as entries warrant; by mutual agreement of the advancing teams and available judges
For the FLASH TRIAL contest in May, the cases will be released at 7:30 AM and 10 AM Pacific on 5/23 and 5/24; the rounds will start one hour after.
